Short Stopover in Hong Kong - 2006

I had a couple of days stopover in Hong Kong on my way to Canada/Alaska, so one of my stops while there was to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens.
These cover an area of 5.6 hectares and were founded in 1871 as a Botanic Garden and renamed in 1975 as Botanical and Zoological Gardens to reflect the increased commitments to zoological exhibits.
They are located on the northern slope of Victoria Peak which is walking distance from Hong Kong proper (uphill in the steamy weather was kind of hard going!)
I have only shown here some pictures from the Orchid House, but the gardens as a whole are quite nice with of course the Zoo part adding some difference to the whole experience.
